Founded in the first decades of the XIX century, it quickly became one of the largest and most prestigious hotels of the centre. The hotel Trettenero began to enlarge itself as early as in 1825, with the construction of stables and of a hay barn, continuing with the progressive purchase of the other adjacent factories.

The hotel is property of the Trettenero family, members of which are such illustrious personalities as the geologist Domenico Trettenero and his son Virgilio, physicist, mathematician and astronomer at the Observatory of the University of Padua; the large complex reached the height of its fortune after the completion of the work at the Stabilimento alle Fonti for the Baths and the treatment of the spa waters (1873).

This was a moment which determined the boom of tourism and the popularity of the spa waters in the Recoaro area, it was the glittering and fashionable atmosphere of the era of the Belle Epoque.
